At the same time as Pride celebrations take place all over the world, the FIFA World Cup is being hosted in Russia, one of over 70 countries where same-sex relations are not allowed.
In the face of this, a small group of creative activists from Brazil, Spain, Russia, The Netherlands, United Kingdom and United States have teamed up to create a one-of-a-kind-jersey. A global symbol of equality and acceptance.
Mothers of hooligans turned
into stewards during the most violent game of the season
In 2014, Brazil was the world champion in soccer related violence: 19 deaths and over 100 injured. In order to stop the violence, authorities tried everything, but hooligans weren't listening to anyone.
One month before the most violent match of the season, we selected and trained the mothers of 50 hooligans to act as security guards during the game. We invited the media to cover behind scenes and accompany the moms during the preparation for the game. On the day of the game, the 50 security moms helped keeping the crowd –and their sons - under control.
